More on Being Happy...

Happy is a feeling due to a mental state which is known to provide positive outlook in life. It involves emotions which allow a person to feel contented due to intense joy. This can be felt through physical, psychological and emotional feelings which can let one feel happy. Stated below is the definition of happiness according to Merriam-Webster’s online Dictionary. This definition points out that feeling happy may provide one complete contentment and pleasure.

Happiness is a state of well-being and contentment; a pleasurable or satisfying experience.

Psychologists have developed claims of the things that make a person happy. It seems that most people find happiness applicable in many fields. With this, once conclusion they have provided is the happiness can be obtained from spending time with a significant other. According to a known Psychologist in the name Martin Seligman, there are some things correlated with humans’ happiness. He summarized the positive things which make humans happiest when they occur/incurred. He created an acronym for this in the name PERMA.

  • P for Pleasure – one can get pleasure through obtaining material goods. You may also associate it with the services you undergo into which will make you feel comfortable such as spa, warm bath, sauna and taking the gym.
  • E for Engagement – one may also gain happiness through participating in activities which can generate thrill and excitement. You may like bungee jumping or even just the simplest act of going to the mall with your friends.
  • R for Relationship – People get happy spending time with his/her close relatives, friends or special someone. They provide that happiness which only their care can provide. It involves your ties which cannot be easily broken and thus trust exists between the members’ bond.
  • M for Meaning – it is the connectedness with the people around you. You will feel happy when you feel that there are other people accepting you. Also, it is you circle to deal with. It lets you know that you belong in the society which consists a bigger relationship with other people.
  • A for Accomplishments – One can feel happiness once you obtain your goals in life. This involves securing a good future for you and your children, your educational background and your company achievements. You will realize your worth once you feel happy on the accomplishments you obtained.
